Where will you go video picks up a silver medal

Trampoline is proud to announce that SMUtube.ca, a video-based recruitment microsite they incepted and developed for Saint Mary’s University, was awarded a gold medal at the 2008 Communications Awards presented last week in Boston by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). The highly regarded Communications Awards recognize outstanding achievement in higher education, independent school, and non-profit organization communications. Judges assess overall design, content and writing, and use of photography, graphics, and technology. Saint Mary’s is a member of CASE District 1 (Eastern Canada and the Northeastern United States), which includes such institutions as Harvard, Yale, and MIT.

“To pique the interest of prospective students from this difficult-to-reach Generation Y audience, we knew we would have to speak their language, as this audience lives online,” says Mark Gascoigne, Managing Director of trampoline. “Creating a site that invited student content was key to its authenticity and success, and we have more interesting developments to come.”

From the outset of the project, the objective was to develop a bold, fun site that would be a hit among prospective students from Canada and around the world. That goal has been realized with over 20,000 visitors coming to the site from more than 130 countries. Coupled with other elements in a comprehensive recruitment campaign, this interest from prospective students increased 2007/08 first-year enrolment by 5%.

“We want to tell prospective students that Saint Mary’s can offer them a globalized education that will take them where they want to go, anywhere in the world, ” says Chuck Bridges, Vice President (Assoc) External Affairs. “These awards are a testament to the fact that we are communicating that message effectively.”

Trampoline and Saint Mary’s were also awarded with a silver medal in the television category for their video anthem, Where will you go? The video, produced in partnership between trampoline and Egg Films, is a visually exciting depiction of the aspirations of Saint Mary’s students. The commercial has reached a national audience nearing 1 million after being broadcast during key sport and cultural events and in movie theatres around the province.
